- Detroit Lions head coach Jim Caldwell noted Saturday that T Taylor Decker is “on track” with his recovery from shoulder surgery. ”He’s making really good progress,” said Caldwell. Decker opened training camp on the active/PUP list and is expected to miss at least the first six weeks of the NFL season recovering from offseason shoulder surgery.
- Decker played every offensive snap for the Lions in 2016, including playoffs. He had a solid rookie season, earning an overall PFF grade of 80.7 that ranked 25th and was the second-highest grade of any rookie offensive tackle. His presence on the line will surely be missed for a Lions team that ranked 19th in pass protection and 25th in run-blocking.
- His pass-blocking efficiency of 95.0 was the third-best among rookie offensive tackles and ranked 27th among offensive tackles with a minimum of 360 snaps in pass protection (PBE measures pressure allowed on a per-snap basis with weighting toward sacks).
