- According to Ray Fittipaldo of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the Pittsburgh Steelers and interior defender Stephon Tuitt are close to agreeing on a contract extension. At just 24 years old, Tuitt has proven he can be an anchor along the Steelers defensive line.
- 2016 was a career year for Tuitt, earning an overall grade of 83.2 that ranked 20th among all interior defenders. Tuitt hardly came off the field in 2016 as only two interior defenders played more snaps than Tuitt’s 945.
- Tuitt has proven to be a versatile defensive lineman, excelling as a run stopper and compiling the sixth-most run stops over the past two years among 3-4 defensive ends at 45 and producing the sixth-most pressures (46) in 2016. Part of Tuitt’s versatility can be found in how he is deployed. In 2016 he accumulated 40 or pass-rush snaps from six different alignment techniques.
