The Seattle Seahawks were kept in the playoff hunt seemingly all year behind magic from their quarterback Russell Wilson and strong defensive play from one of the league's best linebackers in Bobby Wagner. Despite that, the longtime favorites to win the NFC West still missed out on with a record of 9-7 in a year that may have seen the changing of the guard in the division. With power shifting towards the San Francisco 49ers and the Los Angeles Rams in not only their division, but the NFC entirely, Seattle will have to improve in several areas in an extremely deep group of not only west coast teams, but a conference as a whole.
They've done their part this offseason by signing numerous veteran players from a variety of teams, including former divisional rivals in WR Jaron Brown (Cardinals), CB Dontae Johnson (49ers) and S Maurice Alexander (Rams). They brought in interior defender Tom Johnson to add depth, placed a second-round tender on Dion Jordan along the edge, giving further promise to a career once thought to be over.
All that said and including several more signings, the Seahawks are not without loss this offseason, signaling the end of the ‘Legion of Boom' era in Seattle as Richard Sherman was let go and subsequently signed a three-year, $39-million deal with San Francisco. While Shaquill Griffin has done his part as a rookie to fill the void at one cornerback spot, the team could use an additional player (or two) in the secondary as well as other areas across the board as we approach the 2018 NFL Draft.
