  • Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman will miss the remainder of the 2017 season after rupturing his Achilles tendon in a 22-16 win on Thursday Night Football over the Arizona Cardinals.
  • Sherman has not missed a game thus far in his impressive NFL career. His highest graded season came in 2012, where he posted a PFF grade of 94.3. Sherman has also been a model of consistency; he has achieved a grade of above 80.0 in each of his seven NFL seasons to date and has allowed a passer rating of just 53.0 into his coverage over that time.
  • His absence will put the spotlight onto teammates Shaquill Griffin, Justin Coleman and Jeremy Lane. Griffin, the Seahawks rookie third-round pick, has shown some promise in his young career, earning a PFF grade of 72.3 through 10 weeks. Coleman was acquired by Seattle before the season in exchange for a seventh-round pick and has repaid that investment, achieving an 81.6 overall grade, good for 29th among cornerbacks. Meanwhile, Lane has battled through injuries, almost traded (in the Duane Brown deal, but failed a physical) and seen his snaps eroded by Griffin and Coleman. His 41.7 overall grade ranks 106th out of 116 qualifying cornerbacks.
