Same story, different city for QB Aaron Murray

  • QB Aaron Murray has been signed with three different teams since being drafted in the fifth round of the 2014 NFL draft by the Kansas City Chiefs. Despite being the SEC leader in career passing yards when he left the University of Georgia, he has yet to line up under center in the regular season.
  • Since 2014, Murray’s PFF QB rating has ranked above 78th in the preseason once, which was in 2015 when he was 34th out of 76 eligible quarterbacks. His 72.2 completion percentage on 36 attempts were tied for 12th during that time.
  • Rams head coach Sean McVay’s offense likes to take shots deep and Murray’s 11 attempts of 20-plus yards have yielded very little results with 123 yards and two interceptions coming off of deep passes in three preseasons.
  • Two of Murray’s three interceptions in the 2016 preseason were throws where he had no pressure, which was the most out of the 15 quarterbacks from the 2014 draft class.
