RB McFadden announces his retirement

  • RB Darren McFadden announced his retirement from the NFL on his twitter account Tuesday. He was the fourth overall pick in the 2008 NFL Draft by the Oakland Raiders. McFadden played seven seasons for the Raiders before finishing his career with the Dallas Cowboys from 2015 through this season.
  • McFadden's career hit a high mark in 2010 with an 81.0 overall PFF grade, which ranked seventh among running backs that season. He started 2011 in impressive fashion, ranking ninth with an 81.9 overall grade, before his season was cut short at 286 snaps due to injury.
  • In 2010 McFadden forced 42 missed tackles in 269 touches, and his 3.45 yards after contract per attempt ranked third. He had 17 runs of 15-plus yards, and ranked first with a breakaway percentage of 45.7 percent (percentage of total yards on runs of 15 yards or more).
  • McFadden was also a threat in the passing game, ranking second among running backs in 2010 with 2.55 yards per route run. He finished in the top six at running back in yards per route run in each of his first three seasons.
