  • According to Gary Klein, Los Angeles Rams and inside linebacker Alec Ogletree are working on a contract extension. Ogletree is entering the final year of his rookie contact after being selected 30th overall in the 2013 draft. Ogletree became an instant starter on the Rams defense, usually playing 99% of snaps when healthy.
  • Ogletree performed well as a rookie in 2013, earning an overall grade of 75.2. Since then his play has taken a major step back and he has graded “poorly” in 2014 (48.2), 2015 (45.3), and 2016 (49.5). His 2016 performance ranked 56th out of 86 qualifying linebackers.
  • Ogletree has struggled as a run defender throughout his career and most recently earned a run defense grade of just 48.4 in 2016. A good bit of his struggle has been wrapping up ball carriers. In 2016, his 17 missed tackles in run defense were the most among linebackers and his tackle efficiency of just 5.5 in run defense ranked 59th out of 64 qualifying inside linebackers.
