- Via the team's website, Los Angeles Chargers QB Philip Rivers thinks that the left side of his offensive line “can cause some problems for a defense.”
- After finishing in 31st in pass-blocking efficiency in 2016, the Chargers decided to revamp their offensive line this offseason. Russell Okung, who signed a four-year deal with the Chargers in March, and Matt Slauson, a free-agent acquisition last offseason, have been working to improve the left side of the line.
- Slauson, who started all 16 games at center last season for the Chargers, has moved back to left guard where he spent the majority of his time with the Jets and Bears. He consistently graded average to above-average at left guard, and his best season came in 2015 when he earned an overall grade of 85.3.
- Okung was the starting left tackle in Denver last season, where he allowed 58 total pressures and finished 48th out of 55 offensive tackles with a pass-blocking efficiency of 92.8. This was his worst season in terms of PBE since entering the league.
