- The New England Patriots announced on their website Wednesday that they have signed quarterback Brian Hoyer. This comes one day after Hoyer was released by San Francisco, after they had completed a trade with the Patriots for Jimmy Garoppolo.
- It's reported that Hoyer's deal with New England is for three years. This will be Hoyer's second stint backing up Tom Brady, as he was signed by the Patriots as an undrafted free agent in 2009 and was with the team through 2011.
- Hoyer is PFF's 27th ranked quarterback this season with an overall grade of 71.0. His career-high mark of 82.1 came in 2016 in six games with the Chicago Bears.
- In 2017, Hoyer has had 16 passes dropped, and the third-highest percentage of passes dropped at 7.8 percent. However, he still ranks 28th with a 68.9 percent adjusted completion percentage (accounts for dropped passes, throw aways, etc).
