- The Green Bay Packers announced they have waved cornerback Ladarius Gunter. Gunter played 1,055 snaps for the Packers in 2016 while starting 19 of 20 games (including playoffs). Heading into this past offseason, Gunter was supposed to compete for a starting spot, but his play continued to push him down the depth chart.
- Gunter essentially came out of nowhere last season after only playing 44 snaps as a rookie. His play left a lot to be desired, earning just the 97th-ranked grade among cornerbacks at 41.9 overall.
- In the 2016 NFC Conference Championship Game, Gunter was torched by Falcons receiver Julio Jones, giving up six catches on eight targets for 144 yards and two scores. That game Gunter earned an overall grade of just 21.9. Coincidentally, Gunter’s release comes just prior to the Packers Week 2 matchup verse the Falcons.
