- On Thursday, Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers practiced in pads for the first time since being placed on injured reserve, according to ESPN’s Rob Demovsky. Rodgers, who broke his collarbone in Week 6, is eligible to return to the active roster in Week 15, so his latest practice is a positive step towards his return.
- Prior to getting hurt, Rodgers was playing at the same high level that has become expected of him, and through the first six weeks of the season his PFF overall grade of 84.9 ranked fifth among quarterbacks. A big reason for that was his pin-point accuracy. In his 6 games, Rodgers logged 193 pass attempts and posted an adjusted completion percentage of 77.3 percent, good for sixth among starting signal callers in that span.
- With Rodgers out, the Packers have relied on backup Brett Hundley, who has displayed some good areas of play but has struggled for the most part. Through 13 weeks, Hundley’s overall grade of 68.8 ranks 32nd out of 38 qualifying quarterbacks, which is mostly due to his performance under pressure. In his six games as starter, Hundley has posted a passer rating of just 38.2 on pressured throws, 32nd among the 33 quarterbacks with at least 30 pressured attempts in that span.
- If Rodgers returns this season, the team will get a huge upgrade in performance under pressure, as Rodgers has arguably become the league’s most efficient passer while under duress. Since 2014, Rodgers has thrown 36 touchdown passes and posted a passer rating of 85.0 on his 496 pressured attempts, both of which lead all quarterbacks with at least 35 attempts in that span.
