  • On Monday, the Cleveland Browns announced that QB Brock Osweiler will start the team’s preseason opener against the New Orleans Saints.
  • A starter for 1,117 snaps for the Houston Texans in 2016, Osweiler finished the year ranked as the 32nd-graded QB, out of 34 qualifying (48.6 overall grade).
  • The main contributor to Osweiler’s poor play was inaccuracy. He ranked 27th among quarterbacks with an adjusted completion percentage of 68.8.
  • One interesting note is that Osweiler had a passer rating of 73.3 when not using play action compared to 66.6 when utilizing play action. The dropoff is the opposite of what usually occurs.
