'No progress' in Kirk Cousins extension talks

  • According to a report by Mike Jones of the Washington Post, there has been no progress on Kirk Cousins’ contract talks, and there haven’t been any intense negotiations going on. The two sides have until the July 15 deadline to determine whether a second straight franchise tag will be assigned to the signal-caller.
  • Cousins, who has the second-most passing yards in football over the last two years, finished the 2016 campaign with an overall grade of 85.9, which ranked him eighth of all quarterbacks in the league.
  • In both 2015 and 2016, Cousins ranked top-10 among quarterbacks in passing yards, overall grade, passing grade, completions, and PFF’s passer rating. In 2015, he ranked second in the league with an adjusted completion percentage of 78.5 percent and he finished eighth in 2016 with 76.3 percent.
  • From Week 6 on, Cousins’ had the second most deep ball attempts while posting the fourth-highest adjusted completion percentage on deep passes.
