NFL Week 6 ESPN San Francisco 49ers @ Green Bay Packers Preview

Beyond providing data for all 32 NFL teams, PFF also supports network broadcasters with game-preview packets that are used to enhance the in-game experience for fans and viewers. This 49ers-Packers preview features the same information our broadcast partners use for team research and in-game production.

Beathard struggling from a clean pocket

Quarterback C.J. Beathard will have to improve on his performance from a clean pocket if the 49ers are to have any hope of coming away from Green Bay with a win.

McGlinchey paving the way

Through his first five games, rookie right tackle Mike McGlinchey has not only earned the highest run-blocking grade among tackles, but he's also on pace to earn the third-highest run blocking grade ever recorded by a rookie right tackle. He'll look to continue his strong start on Sunday.

Defense needs to wrap up

The 49ers defense needs to pick up their play in 2018, and that starts with tackling. Through five weeks, they've missed 27 tackles – the second-most among teams.

Sherman has still got it

It's business as usual for Richard Sherman in his first year in San Francisco. He's allowed just one reception on 146 coverage snaps and yielded a passer rating of just 39.6 on throws into his coverage – both the best marks among players at the position.

Rodgers great on third downs

Aaron Rodgers is one of the most lethal quarterbacks in the league on third down. The 49ers better be ready for a tough fight on Sunday.

Cobb losing his grip

Randall Cobb is off to a rough start in 2018 and has already dropped two of the 100 catchable passes thrown his way – a far departure from his drop-less 2016 performance. He'll look to get back on track this Sunday.

Martinez doing his bit

Blake Martinez has been one of the best linebackers in the game so far this year, Beathard should think twice about targeting him in Week 6.

The dynamic duo at cornerback

So far this year, rookie cornerbacks Jaire Alexander and Josh Jackson have allowed passer ratings of just 75.9 and 99.5, respectively. With these two rookie cornerbacks making an impact early, the future is bright for the Packers secondary.
