Lions place Ngata on IR with bicep injury

  • According to Dave Birkett, the Detroit Lions have placed defensive tackle Haloti Ngata on injured reserve with a bicep injury. Ngata, 33 years old, is in the last year of his contract with Detroit.
  • Ngata was off to a solid start this season, earning the No. 41 grade among interior defenders at 79.6 overall, his highest grade in a Lions uniform. Through five games this season, Ngata had taken a definitive role as more of rotational player, playing 145 total snaps, the third-most among his position group on the team.
  • Ngata has been fairly productive rushing the passer the season, producing a pass-rush productivity of 7.0 that ranks 19th among defensive tackles.
  • Look for sixth-round rookie Jeremiah Ledbetter to get more involved, especially on passing downs. On 134 snaps this year Lebetter has earned a 71.3 overall grade.
