Julio Jones to be featured more in the red zone this season

  • Kelsey Conway speculates the Atlanta Falcons will focus on getting WR Julio Jones the ball more inside the red zone in 2017 and said it has been a big focus during camp. It is hard to imagine Jones improving a part of his game as his 2016 grade of 96.5 is the top wide receiver grade ever recorded in the PFF era (2006-2016).
  • Last year, Jones was only targeted nine times inside the red zone in the regular season, all of which came in just four games. On those nine targets, he was fairly productive with quarterbacks earning a passer rating of 101.9 when targeting him. The league average is just 89.0.
  • Teammates Devonta Freeman (16), Tevin Coleman (12), Jacob Tamme (11), Mohammed Sanu (10), and Justin Hardy (10) where all targeted more when inside the red zone.
