  • ESPN’s Adam Schefter has reported that free agent quarterback Robert Griffin III will work out for the Los Angeles Chargers on Tuesday. Griffin has been a free agent since he was released by the Cleveland Browns in March.
  • Griffin burst on to the scene in Washington during his rookie season in 2012, earning a PFF overall grade of 90.9, the second-highest grade ever recorded by a rookie quarterback (since 2006). After injuring his knee late in 2012, Griffin has failed to repeat his rookie performance, and has failed to attain a grade above 73.9.
  • Since tearing his ACL, Griffin has struggled to stay healthy and has seen his snap count decrease dramatically. He notched 1,009 snaps in his rookie year, 924 in 2013, 472 in 2014, 0 in 2015, and just 302 in 2016.
  • If Griffin’s tryout is successful, he could provide help should Philip Rivers go down. Griffin has been good under pressure throughout his career, and in all but one season, has finished in the top five in adjusted completion percentage when under pressure.
