- Roy Cummings of FanRagSports.com projects that the Seattle Seahawks could use the franchise tag on tight end Jimmy Graham in 2018. The tag would give Graham a one-year salary that is the average of the top five tight ends in the NFL, which will be about $10 million next year.
- Graham was traded to Seattle in 2015 from New Orleans for center Max Unger and the Seahawks’ 2015 first-round pick. This year will be the last season of the contract Graham signed with the Saints in 2014, which paid him a total of $40 million over four years.
- Before the trade Graham was dominant in New Orleans, including his breakout season of 2011 when he was PFF's second ranked tight end with an overall grade of 90.5. He led all tight ends in 2011 in yards per route run at 2.42, and was second in YPRR in 2012 and 2013.
- Graham suffered a knee injury in 2015 and missed the last five games of the season. He came back strong in 2016, finishing the year with the most receptions on deep passes (targeted 20-plus yards downfield) of all tight ends with eight. He was PFF's fifth-highest-graded tight end with an overall grade of 85.1.
