- The Chicago Tribune’s Brad Briggs reports quarterback Mike Glennon is still the favorite to start Week 1 for the Chicago Bears. The Bears invested heavily into the quarterback position this offseason, signing Glennon to a three-year, $45 million contract and moved up to draft Mitch Trubisky with the second overall pick in this year’s draft. It’s been rumored that Glennon will start the entire season.
- In the preseason opener, Glennon, along with the entire Bears starting offense, struggled. Playing 22 total snaps, he earned an overall grade of just 49.1, which ranked 54th out of 67 qualifying quarterbacks for the week.
- Trubisky on the other hand performed well, going against mostly Denver’s second- and third-team defense. He led all quarterbacks with an overall grade of 85.1. On 25 pass attempts, Trubisky had an adjusted completion percentage of 90.9.
