Gilmore hopes to pair with Butler to be league's top duo

  • The New England Patriots signing of CB Stephon Gilmore this offseason instantly gave them one of the top duos in the league, with him and Malcolm Butler. Gilmore is ready to prove that they can play at a high level together.
  • Last season, Butler and Gilmore’s overall grades of 88.6 and 73.2, respectively, ranked seventh and 60th respectively, out of 111 qualified cornerbacks. Butler broke out in 2015 with an 83.6 overall grade while Gilmore ranked 21st with an 82.2 overall grade.
  • In 2016, Gilmore was eighth out of 117 qualified corners in coverage snaps per target at 7.9, and Butler was 26th at 7.0.
