Giants S Adams expected to start at free safety

  • According to Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News, New York Giants second-year safety Andrew Adams is penciled in to start at free safety for the 2017 season.
  • Adams was thrust into the Giants starting line up in Week 4, where he played 86.7 percent of the Giants snaps, and followed by playing all 80 defensive snaps against Green Bay in Week 5. He finished the season with 467 snaps, the third-highest total of all rookie safeties.
  • Adams graded well in coverage in 2016 — his coverage grade of 76.8 was the third-highest of all rookie safeties. He allowed a passer rating of just 69.3, the second-lowest rating among rookie safeties with at least 350 snaps.
  • He ended the season with an overall grade of 79.4, which ranked 39th of 90 players at the position.
