  • As reported by Orlando Ledbetter of the Atlanta Journal Constitution, Wes Schweitzer will start at right guard for the Falcons in the second preseason game against the Steelers. The Falcons are looking to either Schweitzer or Ben Garland replace retired guard Chris Chester.
  • After being listed as the starter in the initial depth chart, Garland was given the nod in the Falcons first preseason game and didn’t allow a pressure but only played six pass blocking snaps. While Schweitzer didn’t allow a pressure either in only 12 pass blocking snaps in the game.
  • Garland played the same amount of snaps last regular season on offense as he did on defense with 42 snaps. While Schweitzer didn’t see the field last regular season.
  • In the 2016 preseason, Schweitzer led the Falcons in pass blocking snaps played but also had the second lowest pass blocking efficiency (93.3) among any Falcons’ offensive lineman. Garland played more center than guard last preseason but only allowed two pressures in 90 total pass blocking snaps.
