  • Atlanta Falcons CB Desmond Trufant appears to be ahead of schedule on his recovery and is expected to be ready for training camp, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution’s D. Orlando Ledbetter.
  • Trufant’s season was cut short due to injury after just nine weeks in 2016. However, even before that he was not as dominant as in previous years. The former Washington Husky has never allowed more than three touchdowns in coverage in a single season, but had already surrendered three touchdown receptions over the first nine games of last season.
  • Furthermore, while Trufant had never allowed a passer rating over 90 in coverage over a season, quarterbacks targeting him in 2016 had a passer rating of 91.7 in the games that he played last year. A healthy Trufant will be trying to get back to his early-career form in 2017 as he graded among the top 10 cornerbacks in his rookie (PFF grade of 87.6) and sophomore (85.0) seasons.
