  • Patriots writer for ESPN.com Mike Reiss doesn’t believe that New England Patriots tight end Dwayne Allen has a guaranteed roster spot coming out of training camp. The Patriots traded for Allen this offseason in a move to seemingly replace Martellus Bennett.
  • In 2012 Allen hit the ground running as a rookie, grading as the sixth-best tight end at 86.2 overall. That year Allen was dominant as a run blocker and his 86.6 run block grade was the highest among tight ends.
  • Allen’s play hasn’t quite returned to the level of his rookie season, especially as a run-blocker, as his highest run block grade earned since 2012 has been 75.0 (2014). In three of the past four seasons he has graded “poor” as a run blocker (sub 60.0).
