Cleveland rookie Howard Wilson fractures kneecap

  • Howard Wilson, the Browns’ fourth-round cornerback out of Houston, fractured his kneecap during the opening practice of Cleveland’s rookie minicamp and will soon undergo surgery, according to multiple reports. He’ll likely miss the entire 2017 season.
  • Wilson, who was expected to compete for an early role, was the 20th-ranked cornerback on the PFF Big Board, coming in at No. 133 overall.
  • Among 154 qualifying cornerbacks in the 2017 draft class, Wilson’s 44.6 passer rating allowed ranked 12th.
