Chiefs rookie RB Hunt impresses in debut

FOXBOROUGH, MA - SEPTEMBER 7: Kansas City Chiefs running back Kareem Hunt (27) outruns the Patriots defense on a long gain for first down that set up the Chiefs' final touchdown, before New England Patriots free safety Devin McCourty (32) was able to force him out of bounds on this run. • Kansas City Chiefs rookie RB Kareem Hunt impressed in his first NFL game, torching the New England Patriots for 246 total yards in their 42-27 win.
  • The third-round pick bounced back after fumbling on his first touch of the game, proving to be a force in the run game. Hunt finished the game with 4.0 yards after contact per attempt, the highest among running backs. His six missed tackles awarded him with an elusive rating (uses missed tackle rate and yards gained after contact to measure a runner’s success beyond the point of being helped by his blockers) of 109.1, also the highest among running backs.
  • The Toledo-product was also prolific in the pass game, targeted five times, reeling in every pass. His 5.76 yards per route run (measures productivity on a per route basis by dividing total yards by total snaps in route) was the second highest in the game, only trailing New England’s Danny Amendola.
  • Despite the early fumble, Hunt finished Thursday night’s game with an overall grade of 89.5, the highest of all players.
