Chargers LB Perryman carted off during preseason game with ankle injury
- Los Angeles Chargers inside linebacker Denzel Perryman was carted off the field during the first quarter of the team’s preseason opener at their new home the StubHub Center Sunday. Per Adam Schefter, he is expected to miss 4-6 weeks with an ankle injury, pending an MRI Monday.
- Perryman started 11 games for the Chargers in 2016, recording a PFF overall grade of 70.7, which ranked 43rd among 86 inside linebackers, which was down on his 2015 rookie year grade of 81.1.
- During the 2015 season, Perryman was particularly strong against the run, ranking first in the league for PFF run-stop percentage (total run stops per run snaps played) with a total of 18.3 percent culminating from 31 run stops (stops that constitute a “loss” for the offense) in 169 run snaps. This figure decreased in 2016, with his 20 run stops equating to a run-stop percentage of 9.4 percent, 19th out of 60 eligible linebackers.
