- The Los Angeles Chargers placed cornerback Jason Verrett on IR Saturday. Verrett will undergo season-ending knee surgery, marking the second year in a row his season was cut short due to injuries.
- Struggling with injuries since entering the league in 2014, Verrett has only appeared in 25 total games. His most snaps came in 2015, where he finished the year with 735. Since then he has only played a combined 323 snaps.
- Albeit only appearing in six games his rookie year, Verrett showed promise, finishing the 2014 season with an overall grade of 86.0. Verrett followed that up by grading as one of the top-rated cornerbacks in the league in 2015, finishing with an overall grade of 89.4.
- Verrett only missed one tackle in the pass game in 2015, finishing with a tackle efficiency (the total number of attempted tackles a cornerback made per each missed tackle in coverage) of 39.0, the eighth best mark among 129 qualifying cornerbacks. Among cornerbacks with at least 385 snaps in the passing game, only Atlanta Falcons Desmond Trufant missed less tackles.
