Former Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Cecil Shorts told SiriusXM NFL Radio Monday he will miss the 2017 season to continue his recovery from a knee injury that cut his last season short.
A free agent, Shorts tore his ACL, MCL, and PCL and dislocated his right knee against the Chargers in Week 13.
He started in five games last season, producing a WR rating of 49.3 in his limited playing time. He averaged 0.94 yards per route run.
Shorts’ production has declined since his 2012 season with the Jacksonville Jaguars. He finished that year tied for ninth in the NFL in yards per route run (2.32) and ranked 13th in yards after the catch (367).
