Buccaneers hope for more health for Martin in 2017
- Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Doug Martin has drawn praise from the likes of team leaders Lavonte David, Robert Ayers, and Jameis Winston over this past week. Martin, who is facing a three-game suspension to start the 2017 season, will be looking to bounce back after a 2016 season where his overall grade fell from 84.8 in 2015 to 66.8 last season.
- Health has played a major role throughout Martin’s career. His overall grade was 81.4 in 2012 and 84.8 in 2015 — both of those seasons, he was able to stay healthy and play all 16 games.
- Martin missed 10 games in 2013, five in 2014, and eight in 2016, and put up overall grades of 54.2, 64.3, and 66.8 respectively.
- Entering his sixth season, injuries have taken a toll on his elusive rating, as his average rating between his 2012 and 2015 seasons was 61.9, compared to 23.7 across 2013, 2014, and 2016.
