Bills RB Jonathan Williams avoids suspension

  • Jonathan Williams will not be suspended in 2017 after being found not guilty of DUI charges, per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. Williams is expected to begin the 2017 as the primary backup to LeSean McCoy in Buffalo.
  • Williams saw limited snaps as the third-string back behind LeSean McCoy and Mike Gillislee during the 2016 regular season. His snap counts were in the single digits in the majority of games, and his highest usage came against the Patriots in week eight with five carries on 19 snaps (though he did score a touchdown). Williams saw the majority of snaps in the 2016 preseason in games one and four, and his overall grades of 72.0 and 67.3 respectively were the highest among running backs in those games. His elusive rating of of 57.0 was notable, the sixth highest grade among 30 running backs with at least 26 attempts in the preseason.
  • Williams was drafted by the Bills in round 5 of the 2016 NFL draft, after having missed his 2015 senior season at Arkansas with a foot injury. In 2014, he earned a 77.5 overall PFF grade, 20th best among 226 running backs with at least 243 snaps. His elusive rating of 103.4 was the fifth highest among 66 running backs with at least 174 attempts.
