5 things you need to know for Thursday

Hey there football fans! Here are five things from yesterday you need to know to start off your Thursdays:

1. Eric Weddle believes that Tony Jefferson will make his job easier. Jefferson was a force when lined up within eight yards of the line of scrimmage. The pair of safeties were both in the top five of PFF's grades last year, giving the Ravens a fearsome tandem in the defensive backfield.
2. Jameis Wintson is excited to have new tight end O.J. Howard. Howard was a true in-line tight end at Alabama, but was also a deep threat. His ability to block and catch passes all over the field will help the Buccaneers match up well against opposing defenses.
3. DeAngelo Williams still wants to play in the NFL. His numbers last year suggest that he can still be a capable backup, although he is already 34. He did play well enough in Le'Veon Bell's various absences over these last few years to keep the Steeler offense on track.
4. The Dolphins believe Matt Moore could be a starter elsewhere in the league. The numbers from last year seem to bear out that idea. During the stretch at the end of the year when he played for an injured Ryan Tannehill, Moore was a top-10 quarterback under pressure, with a clean pocket, and when throwing the ball in 2.5 seconds or less.
5. Does a running quarterback really make things easier on a fantasy running back? PFF's Tyler Loechner investigated the idea that having a running quarterback helps out a running back by taking away some of the attention of the defense. League-wide, the answer seemed to be no, not really. However, certain teams might be better at it than others, and having a running quarterback certainly did not hurt the fantasy production of running backs.
