  • After passing on a new addition to their offensive line in this year’s draft, the San Francisco 49ers are expected to sign former Vikings guard Brandon Fusco to a one-year deal.
  • Fusco has been a better run blocker than pass protector during his six seasons in Minnesota, posting a better run-block grade than pass-block grade in all but one season, 2014, when he spent all but three games on IR with a shoulder injury.
  • In starting guards Zane Beadles and Joshua Garnett, San Francisco had some of the league’s worst guard play in 2016, with the duo posting 40.2 and 42.4 overall grades, respectively.
  • Fusco is unlikely to bolster a guard group that especially struggled in pass protection. Fusco, Beadles and Garnett all ranked among the 10 worst qualifying guards in pass blocking efficiency last season.
