  • San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan has announced that S Eric Reid is definitely out of the teams Thursday Football game against the Los Angeles Rams, and although the knee injury sustained in Sunday's loss to the Seattle Seahawks will not require surgery, Reid is likely to be out for more than just one game, reports Matt Maiocco of CSN Bay Area.
  • Reid, who is entering the last year of his rookie contract, is looking to bounce back from an injury-affected 2016 season, where his overall grade of 50.5 was the lowest of his career to date.
  • Through two games of the 2017 season Reid has made an encouraging start with an overall grade of 77.4 ranking 26th among 86 qualifying safeties.
  • Reid has been strong against the run, a key aspect of what do new 49ers defensive coordinator Robert Saleh has asked him to do, in the 118 snaps he has played this season, recording a total of four run stops and a run stop percentage (Total number of run stops (runs that constitute a ‘loss’ for the offense) divided by the number of run snaps played) of 7.1 which ranks 6th in the league among safeties.
