2018 NFL Draft team breakdown: New York Giants

Picking at No. 2 overall, this draft for the New York Giants will always be defined by the fact that they opted to not select a quarterback at the top of the draft. With five signal-callers going in Round 1, the Giants had their choice of four of them if they wanted, with only No. 1 overall Baker Mayfield unattainable for them. Should Sam Darnold go on to become a franchise quarterback, it’s something the New York media won’t let them live down for quite some time. Still, they landed Penn State running back Saquon Barkley, and have high expectations for what he can do for that offense.

More importantly, the Giants found value as the draft went on, and ultimately came away with a potential quarterback of the future when they selected Richmond’s Kyle Lauletta in with the 108th overall pick, and will be happy with their six-pick haul.

Key win: We have been banging the table for UTEP guard Will Hernandez for three years now, and to get him in the second round is phenomenal value.
