PFF Week: Down South, Week 8

PFF-Week-Down-SouthIt’s your last chance to get caught up on the happenings at PFF before the next slate of games is upon us and our new ‘PFF Week’ posts provide quick access to the week that was. The ‘Down South’ edition covers all things pertaining to the AFC and NFC South divisions for a one-stop Saturday shop built to keep you in the loop and on top of your football-watching game.

Week 7 Wrap

Week 7 saw the NFC South take just one loss, in a divisional game, while the Saints rested up over their bye. The AFC South fared worse though, with just one win. However that one win was against the previously unbeaten Broncos on national TV. Our team have taken a look back at all the games and picked out the performances of note.

Of course our team didn't feel that was enough analysis, so as usual the PFF Team of the Week and “Had a Bad Day” Team were both released, picking the best and worst performers of the week.  With starters in both teams for multiple South teams which players excelled in victory and which were the causes of defeat this week. The Race for Rookie of the Year is also heating up, with a certain NFC South rookie pushing his way back towards the top.

Gordon McGuinness' Secret Superstars includes two rookies from the South this week, one NFC, one AFC. With both playing well recently it was time that they got a spot in the limelight. Another group of players deserving of the limelight were highlighted by Thomas Maney, who used the Third Phase to bring attention to the special teamers who performed the best in Week 7.

Looking to Week 8

Week 8 for the NFC South got off to an early start, with the Buccaneers and Panthers facing off on Thursday Night Football. Fortunately our team had you covered, breaking down the areas to focus on in the 3TFO: Panthers @ Buccaneers, Week 8. Of course with the game in the books Ben Stockwell has provided a breakdown of what happened in ReFo: Panthers @ Buccaneers, Week 8. Sam Monson has even taken an extra look at one of the big plays in the game and analysed where it went wrong for the Buccaneers in the TNF edition of his Analysis Notebook.

Of course there is still Sunday to come and the areas to watch in each have been provided. Only one AFC South team is in action with the Jaguars travelling to London to host the 49ers, while the NFC South has all four teams in action in Week 8, just two play on Sunday with the Saints hosting the Bills and the Falcons travelling to Arizona.

Our team have of course picked all the games, with just one going wrong with Thursday's result, there is little disagreement for the other three match-ups, with two being unanimous choices.
