PFF Week: Back East, Week 7

PFF-Week-Back-EastIt’s your last chance to get caught up on the happenings at PFF before the next slate of games is upon us, and our new ‘PFF Week’ posts provide quick access to the week that was. The ‘Back East’ edition covers all things pertaining to the AFC and NFC East divisions for a one-stop Saturday shop built to keep you in the loop and on top of your football-watching game.

Week 7 features three games in which East teams will face off against each other. The Bills play the Dolphins, the Patriots get the Jets and the Eagles and Cowboys will renew acquaintances. These three games could go a long way in solidifying the structure of these two divisions. If the Patriots and Cowboys can get wins, the Dolphins, Eagles and Bills may only have long shot Wild Card aspirations. If not, things will continue to be up in the air, especially in the NFC East. It's still relatively early but things will definitely be more clear after Week 7. Here's what the teams back East have been up to on Pro Football Focus this week:

Week 6 Wrap

REFO: NY Giants at Chicago
REFO: Cincinnati at Buffalo
REFO: Philadelphia at Tampa Bay
REFO: Pittsburgh at NY Jets
REFO: New Orleans at New England
REFO: Washington at Dallas

A handful of Back East players were featured in the Week 6 Team of the Week including Tom Brady and Brian Orakpo. Had a Bad Day for Week 6 also featured some East players that struggled. Sheldon Richardson and Kiko Alonso are perched atop Khaled Elsayed's Race for the Rookie of the Year list and Cowboys' center Travis Frederick quietly sits in fifth.

This week's 32 Observations breaks down everything from how teams are using their defensive players to when they are successful to any other interesting tidbit Nathan Jahnke found during his research. First Rounders in Focus looks at how all of the top picks are faring through six weeks, including Miami's third overall pick Dion Jordan who's sporting a +4.2 overall grade. The Third Phase features New England Patriot special-teamer Jamies Collins and Dallas' Jeff Heath.

Looking ahead to Week 7

The Power Rankings are in and the Cowboys have moved into the Top 10, up two spots from last week. The Eagles also moved up three spots to #18,while the Jets and Bills dropped a few spots. PFF Pick'em: Week 7 has most of our experts liking the Dolphins, Pats and Cowboys, while the Redskins get only one selection and the Giants are a unanimous choice to beat the Vikings! Palazzolo's Pitch focuses on rookie running backs highlighting the Cowboys' Joseph Randle.
