This week we're discussing a potential changing of the guard with two young wide receivers, a tight end you need to start in DFS lineups and a running back who appears to be hitting his stride.
Evans taking over in Tampa?
One of the headlines over the past week questioned if rookie wide receiver is overtaking Vincent Jackson as the top target in Tampa Bay. Andrew Stevens examined the two wide receivers and their recent play, showing that Evans has fared better among the two based on PFF's metrics.
Here's how they stack up.
Evans: 87.1 WR Rating, 5.88 Drop Rate, 2.07 Yards per Route Run (YPPR)
Jackson: 60.0 WR Rating, 15.79 Drop Rate, 1.49 YPPR
Sam Monson came away impressed by Evans in Week 9, calling it a breakout game for the rookie in his Buccaneers-Browns ReFo. Evans' signature play came on a touchdown reception over cornerback Buster Skrine in the third quarter. Evans finished with 124 yards and two touchdowns against Cleveland.
Evans has also been a better downfield threat. He has eight receptions on 16 targets of 20-plus yards. Jackson only has four on 20 targets.
Dynasty owners will certainly want to target Evans as he's a top 20 player going forward, but redraft owners and DFS players might want to invest as well if they can. Josh McCown's return to the starting lineup doesn't provide optimism for Evans' value. However, the Buccaneers wide receivers have favorable matchups against Atlanta, Washington and Chicago over the next three weeks. Evans is worth the $5,900 price for Week 10.
