PFF Preview: Titans @ Eagles, Week 12

2014-Prev-WK12-TEN@PHIComing off a loss on Monday night to the Pittsburgh Steelers, the struggling Tennessee Titans (2-8) travel to Philadelphia face off against the 7-3 Eagles, looking to rebound after a loss themselves.

The Titans’ defense will try to replicate what Green Bay did last week against Philadelphia by getting after quarterback Mark Sanchez and disrupting his rhythm. Outside linebacker Derrick Morgan will look to take the lead in that department. Morgan ranks fourth at his position in both Pass Rush grade (+13.7) and quarterback hurries (24) in 2014. Defensive end Jurrell Casey is also having himself quite a season. Casey is tied for second among 3-4 ends with nine QB hits and ranks fifth with an 8.5 Pass Rush Productivity.

The Eagles’ will look to neutralize the Titans’ aggressive front seven with an offensive line led by stud left tackle Jason Peters. Peters is tied with Joe Thomas for the highest Pass Blocking grade this season (+16.2) and has only allowed one sack in 2014. The veteran is also fourth at his position with a 97.5 Pass Blocking Efficiency score. Bookend tackle Lane Johnson has also been very effective since returning from suspension. Johnson has not allowed a sack this season and ranks seventh (in a tie) among offensive tackles with a 96.6 Pass Blocking Efficiency grade. If Philadelphia’s offensive line can keep Sanchez upright, it could be a long day for the Titans.

Here are three more notable numbers for each side

Tennessee Titans

Taylor Lewan  despite playing only 307 snaps this season, the rookie is sixth among offensive tackles with a +5.0 Run Blocking grade.

George Wilson – has only allowed six receptions when in primary coverage in 2014, while earning a strong 0.21 Yards per Coverage Snap (sixth best among safeties).

Bishop Sankey – has earned a 53.5 Elusive Rating over his past three games, eighth-best among running backs in that span.

Philadelphia Eagles

Jordan Matthews – since Sanchez entered the lineup, Matthews has earned a 153.3 WR Rating which is tops among receivers.

Fletcher Cox – is tied for fifth among 3-4 ends with 21 stops in the running game and sixth with a 9.4 Run Stop Percentage.

Connor Barwin – the outside linebacker ranks third at his position with a 13.0 Pass Rush Productivity.
