PFF Preview: Steelers @ Titans, Week 11

2014-Prev-WK11-PIT@TENThis week’s Monday Night Football game will see the up-and-down Pittsburgh Steelers travel to LP Field to take on the Tennessee Titans, who are desperately searching for a win.

While Ben Roethlisberger is getting all the attention for the Steelers, it’s wide receiver Antonio Brown that might deserve the most praise. His receiving grade of +15.6 is the highest among all pass catchers this season, as are his 79 receptions and 1,070 receiving yards. All this despite being the only Steelers receiver with a receiving grade greater than +1.5. Big Ben knows it too, as 30% of Roethlisberger’s completions and 35% of his yards have come when throwing to Brown.

If the Titans are going to win this game, they’re going to have to find a way to slow down Brown. The Titans will likely use No. 1 corner Jason McCourty on Brown but that might not be enough. McCourty has struggled at times as a No.1 corner this season, netting only a -1.3 grade in pass coverage. Against a receiver playing as well as Brown, that simply won’t cut it. The Titans will have to rely on their above-average pass rush to throw Roethlisberger off his game and not allow him to get the ball to Brown if they want to finally snap their losing skid.

Here are three more notable players for each team:

Pittsburgh Steelers

Ben Roethlisberger – Roethlisberger’s passing grade of +25.3 is the highest in the league by over five points. He also has the fourth-best Accuracy Percentage at 77.0%.

Le’Veon Bell – Bell has forced a league-high 17 missed tackles after catching the football and is first among all running backs with a +6.2 receiving grade.

Lawrence Timmons – Timmons has made 28 run stops, which gives him a Run Stop Percentage of 12.6%, second-highest among all inside linebackers in the NFL.

Tennessee Titans

Jurrell Casey – Casey’s 28 total QB pressures ranks fourth among all 4-3 defensive ends, and leads directly to his third-best +10.3 pass rush grade.

Derrick Morgan – Morgan is the only 3-4 outside linebacker in the NFL to have a pass rush grade greater than +10.0 (+11.7) and a pass coverage grade greater than +1.0 (+2.6)

Delanie Walker – Only one tight end has forced more missed tackles than Walker’s 12, and only four tight ends have overall grades higher than his +10.1.
