PFF Preview: Seahawks @ Chiefs, Week 11
The (6-3) Kansas City Chiefs will welcome the (6-3) Seattle Seahawks to Arrowhead on Sunday. The Chiefs are coming off a late win in Buffalo last week and are trying to keep pace with the (7-2) Denver Broncos. The Seahawks ran over the Giants in the second half last week, but still sit two games behind the Arizona Cardinals and just a game ahead of the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC West.
This game features two of the premier edge defenders in the league in Justin Houston and Michael Bennett. Big plays from either one of these two could completely change the complexion of this game. Justin Houston is currently our top ranked 3-4 outside linebacker with a +23.0 grade and his Pass Rush Productivity rating of 15.7 also ranks first. Michael Bennett’s +19.4 overall grade ranks second out of all 4-3 defensive ends behind only Cameron Wake. His Pass Rush Productivity rating of 11.5 ranks seventh as does his 8.5% Run Stop Percentage.
Here are a few other players to watch for.
Max Unger – Despite missing four games, Unger is still our second-highest-graded center at +10.2. Most of that grade is built on the strength of an +11.6 mark run blocking.
Cliff Avril – His +10.5 pass rushing grade ranks fifth out of all 4-3 defensive ends and his Pass Rush Productivity rating of 11.7 also ranks fifth.
Richard Sherman – Sherman’s +8.9 overall grade ranks sixth out of all corners and he ranks first in cornerbacks’ coverage averaging 16 coverage snaps per reception allowed.
Kansas City Chiefs
Alex Smith – His passing grade of +6.4 ranks 10th overall and he still tops our Accuracy Percentage numbers with an 80.9% mark.
Travis Kelce – Kelce ranks third overall in our tight end grading with a +10.3 mark and he ranks second behind Rob Gronkowski in Yards Per Route Run at 2.58.
Sean Smith – He ranks 14th in cornerbacks’ coverage averaging 12 coverage snaps per reception allowed and his +7.4 overall grade ranks ninth out of all cornerbacks.
