PFF Preview: Jets @ Bills, Week 12

2014-Prev-WK12-NYJ@BUFThe Jets' top-ranked PFF run defense will head into snowy Buffalo this weekend to take on the platoon of Bills running backs. Please note that this game has been moved to Detroit with a 7:00 pm EST kickoff due to the weather conditions, so adjust accordingly.

The Jets may have the best starting 3-4 defensive line anyone could ask for. Damon Harrison, Sheldon Richardson, and Muhammad Wilkerson all have overall grades +9.0 or higher and run grades that are +12.7 or higher. Richardson and Wilkerson also grade out +8.5 or higher when rushing the passer. The two have combined to produce nine sacks and a total of 56 pressures.

Anthony Dixon and Bryce Brown had some tough sledding in Week 8 when they last faced the Jets, each recording negative rushing grades. In the two weeks after that, both have improved significantly in their roles. Dixon has recorded a +1.3 rush grade in Weeks 10 and 11 while averaging 5.1 yards per carry. Brown has graded out as the sixth-best overall back at +2.2 and has the second-best receiving grade of +3.9 while also coming in second in Yards Per Route Run.

Here are three more notable numbers for each side:

New York Jets

Nick Mangold – the No. 1 center in Pass Blocking Efficiency allowing a mere five pressures on the year, and also the No. 1 rated overall center with a +16.5 overall grade.

Chris Ivory – has played great this year with a +6.3 rushing grade and is the third most elusive back in the league forcing 37 missed tackles.

Jason Babin – has been a fine free agent addition with a +5.0 overall grade while grading out +5.7 against the run and +2.3 rushing the passer forcing 19 QB pressures.

Buffalo Bills

Corey Graham – will look to fill the role of the Leodis McKelvin who was recently sent to injured reserve. Graham should fill in nicely posting a +6.1 overall grade and a +4.4 mark in coverage.

Chris Hogan – emerging as a nice No. 3 wide receiver catching 12 of 15 targets the past two weeks, good for a 127.2 Wide Receiver Rating good for ninth, and ranking eighth in Slot Performance in that same time span.

Nigel Bradham – rates as the No. 1 outside linebacker in a 4-3 scheme among those with 245 snaps in Pass Rush Productivity while also ranking ninth in Run Stop Percentage among those with 145 snaps against the run.
