PFF Preview: Eagles @ Colts, Week 2

2014-Prev-WK2-PHI@INDThe Philadelphia Eagles will head into Indianapolis to take on the Colts in their home opener on Monday Night Football.

LeSean McCoy looks to build on his Week 1 performance where he forced nine total missed tackles and picked up 61 yards after contact out of his 74 total rushing yards. Despite losing two starters along the offensive line during the game, the Eagles’ still recorded four green run blocking grades against the Jaguars. Dennis Kelly took snaps at LG in Wednesday’s practice, replacing the injured Evan Mathis. In the preseason Kelly graded out at +4.3 overall on 190 snaps.

Anthony Castonzo held up nicely against Broncos defensive end Demarcus Ware last week, posting a Pass Blocking Efficiency rating of 96.3, good for fifth among tackles with at least 50 pass block snaps in Week 1. Vontae Davis continued his strong play from last year, posting a +1.5 coverage grade and allowing only one catch for 5 yards while being thrown at five times. Peyton Manning had a 39.6 QB rating when throwing in Davis’s direction last week.

Here are three more notable numbers for each side:

Philadelphia Eagles

Fletcher Cox – Performed tremendously in his season debut: +4.8 overall rating with four stops, +2.3 in run defense, +1.3 as a pass rusher, and even recorded a +1.0 in coverage.

Connor Barwin – Graded out positively in all categories, recording a +2.5 overall grade. Had two QB hits, two hurries, and two batted passes.

Jason Kelce – One of three starting Eagle O-linemen to make it out of the game injury-free and graded in the green, Kelce led the way with a +4.8 overall and jumped out to a fast start as he looks to defend his crown as the league's highest-graded center.

Indianapolis Colts

Andrew Luck – Factoring in three drops by his receivers, Luck's Accuracy Percentage of 71.7 last week came in 21st on the QB list. Not far off the 70.6 (27th) he posted last year.

Reggie Wayne – Of his 13 targets, 10 came in the slot. He caught seven of those 10 to lead all slot receivers in Week 1.

Loucheiz Purifoy – The UDFA out of Florida was an asset as a gunner against the Broncos recording a +2.5 rating on punt returns.
