PFF Preview: Cowboys @ Seahawks, Week 6

2014-Prev-WK06-DAL@SEAIn what could be the game of the week, the (4-1) Dallas Cowboys head to Seattle on Sunday to play the (3-1) Seattle Seahawks. The Cowboys outlasted the Houston Texans in overtime last week and will be looking to keep pace with the (4-1) Eagles atop the NFC East. Russell Wilson led the Seahawks to a Monday night win in Washington and Seattle is also tied atop their division with the (3-1) Cardinals.

The running game will be key for both of these teams as they each employ one of the most elusive backs in the league. Dallas brings in DeMarco Murray who is currently our highest-graded runner at +7.4. Murray also leads PFF’s Elusive Rating stat with a 74.9 rating, as he has forced 34 total missed tackles. The Seahawks counter with Marshawn Lynch who has the third-ranked rushing grade at +5.9. Lynch has been a regular atop our Elusive Rating throughout his career and ranks just behind Murray this season with a 73.0 rating and 27 missed tackles forced.

Here are a few other players to watch out for:

Dallas Cowboys

Jason Witten – The veteran's +5.8 run blocking grade tops all tight ends and his +7.6 overall grade ranks third. He is also yet to drop a pass and ranks tied for first in our Tight End Drop Rate statistic at 100%.

Tyrone Crawford – After struggling in Week 1, Crawford has been stellar as his +5.9 overall grade ranks seventh among all 4-3 defensive ends. If he maintains his 13.8 Pass Rush Productivity rating, with a few more snaps he’ll be ranked toward the top at his position.

Orlando Scandrick – Scandrick has returned from suspension in top form with a sixth-ranked +5.2 overall grade. Quarterbacks only have a 56.3 rating when targeting his coverage thus far.

Seattle Seahawks

Max Unger – Unger’s great work in the run game (+7.8) pushes his overall grade to +6.8 ranking third among centers. He has allowed five quarterback hurries on the year, but is yet to allow a hit or sack.

Bobby Wagner – Though Luke Kuechly is currently our highest-graded inside backer at +9.0, Wagner isn’t far behind at +8.9. His all-around tools have done the job. He is currently graded +1.0 or better in coverage, against the run, and when rushing the passer.

Michael Bennett – With a +10.1 pass rushing grade, Bennett ranks second behind only Cameron Wake among 4-3 ends. Bennett’s 21 total pressures ranks first and his 12.1 Pass Rush Productivity rating is fourth.
