PFF Preview: Colts @ Bengals, Week 7

2014-Prev-WK07-CIN@INDIn a battle between AFC Division leaders, Andrew Luck and the Indianapolis Colts will host Andy Dalton and the Cincinnati Bengals.

In his third season, Luck has taken the NFL by storm, leading all quarterbacks with 1,988 yards and 17 Touchdowns. The Colts’ quarterback is also tops at his position with 1,182 Yards in the Air (not including drops) and is sixth with a 93.52 PFF Quarterback Rating in 2014. The former first overall selection is proving his worth and has emerged as a serious MVP candidate in the early portion of this season. Luck has a strong receiving core this year, led by T.Y. Hilton. Hilton has earned a +7.5 overall grade this season, and his 2.67 Yards per Route Run is third best at his position. If Luck and Hilton continue their hot streaks Sunday afternoon, the Bengals could be in for a difficult game.

Cincinnati’s secondary will look to slow down the Colts’ passing game. Safety George Iloka has a +3.3 Coverage grade this season, and has allowed opposing quarterbacks to earn a minute 5.8 QB Rating while throwing into his coverage. Veteran cornerback Terrence Newman has also been effective in 2014. Newman ranks eight among cornerbacks with 0.83 Yards per Coverage Snap, to go along with three passes defended and 8.9 Yards allowed per Reception (ranking him fifth at his position).

Here are three more notable numbers for each side:
