PFF Preview: Chargers @ Chiefs, Week 17

2014-Prev-WK17-SD@KCThe (9-6) San Diego Chargers head to Arrowhead Stadium this Sunday to play the (8-7) Kansas City Chiefs. The Chargers are trying to ride the momentum of their comeback victory in San Francisco last week and just need a win to secure the final AFC playoff spot. The Chiefs will need much more help and can get in with a win and with Baltimore and Houston losses.

With the status of Keenan Allen in doubt, the Chargers will be hoping for a big day from Malcom Floyd. Floyd’s +7.3 overall grade ranks 17th out of all receivers and he ranks fourth in Drop Rate as he’s dropped only one out of 50 catchable passes. Sean Smith will see time covering Floyd this Sunday. He has mostly played on the right side but he has played 96 snaps at LCB this season and the Chiefs could move him around attempting take away Philip Rivers' biggest outside weapon. Smith’s +14.5 coverage grade ranks fourth among corners and he ranks ninth averaging 12.5 Coverage Snaps Per Reception allowed.

Here are a few others to watch for:

Philip Rivers – His +12.3 passing grade ranks seventh out of all quarterbacks and his Accuracy Percentage of 75.8% ranks sixth.

Eric Weddle – Our top-ranked safety with a +20.2 overall grade and has the top coverage grade at +12.9. That coverage grade ranks him fourth, while he also has a +7.6 run grade.

Kansas City Chiefs
