PFF Preview: Bengals @ Texans, Week 12

2014-Prev-WK12-CIN@HOUThe Cincinnati Bengals and their stout offensive line will head into Houston to take on rookie outside linebacker Jadeveon Clowney and defensive end JJ Watt on the formidable Texans defense.

Clowney has played about 46% of snaps in three games, but looks to play in his first set of consecutive games. He has looked good against the run with a +2.0 grade and three stops to show for. Meanwhile, Watt continues on his year-long tear with these astounding numbers: +58.2 overall grade, +7.0 against the run, +51.7 rushing the passer, 67 QB pressures with 10 of them being sacks, and seven batted passes.

Andy Dalton comes into this week being sacked less often than all but three other quarterbacks among those who have played 520 snaps (12). The offensive line also leads the league in Pass Blocking Efficiency surrendering the fewest of pressures with only 59; the Panthers' offensive line have given up the most pressures this season with 143. Both starting tackles for the Bengals, Andrew Whitworth and Andre Smith, are ranked first and seventh, respectively, in Pass Blocking Efficiency among tackles with 250 pass block snaps.

Here are three more notable numbers for each side:

Cincinnati Bengals

AJ Green – Looks to be fully recovered from his foot ailment, putting up his highest grade of the year last week +2.5 and a nearly perfect 156.3 wide receiver rating second only behind Mike Evans.

Jeremy Hill – In the last three weeks that Hill has started he’s forced 12 missed tackles and has gained 158 yards on his four runs that were 15 yards or longer, making him second in Breakaway Percentage to only Jamaal Charles.

George Iloka – Ranks as the 10th-best safety in the league with a +6.7 overall grade, and is No. 1 in coverage among safeties with at least 230 snaps picking off 3 passes and giving up not a single touchdown.

Houston Texans

Ryan Mallett – Played outstanding in his first start last week coming in second in PFF QB Rating only behind Aaron Rodgers, and the lowest average time to throw with 2.06 seconds per drop-back.

CJ Fiedorowicz – The rookie ranks eighth among tight ends in Pass Blocking Efficiency allowing only two pressures while pass blocking 41.4% of the time.

Whitney Mercilus – Currently stands eighth among 3-4 OLBs with 175 snaps in Run Stop Percentage with 13 stops and missing no tackles.
