PFF NFL power rankings for Week 8
In preparation for NFL Week 8, here are the updated PFF power rankings. This week, the rankings are presented alongside an interesting piece of information about a non-first round rookie for each team.
1. New England Patriots
Undrafted rookie center David Andrews has a pass blocking efficiency of 97.6, best for rookie centers.
2. Green Bay Packers
When cornerback Damarious Randall has been targeted, opposing quarterbacks have a completion percentage of just 41.9, best among cornerbacks.
3. Carolina Panthers
Undrafted rookie Ryan Delaire has a pass rushing productivity of 10.1, best for rookie 4-3 defensive ends. He has two sacks, two hits, and five hurries on 72 pass rushes.
4. Cincinnati Bengals
The Bengals rookie with the most snaps this season is tight end Tyler Kroft, with 68 snaps. In that time, he has not been thrown at, but has not allowed a pressure on his six pass blocks.
5. Denver Broncos
Offensive tackle Ty Sambrailo has a pass blocking efficiency of 94.8, the best for rookie offensive tackles with at least 100 pass blocks.
6. Atlanta Falcons
Halfback Tevin Coleman has yet to allow a pressure this year. He is tied for the fourth-most pass block snaps among all halfbacks who have yet to allow a pressure, and has the most among rookies.
7. Arizona Cardinals
Halfback David Johnson has a 2.25 yards per route run, the best for rookies, and seventh best for all running backs.
8. Minnesota Vikings
Wide receiver Stefon Diggs leads all wide receivers in yards per route run at 3.27.
9. Pittsburgh Steelers
The Steelers non-first round pick with the most snaps this season is Leterrius Walton, who has only played 27 snaps. He has one run stop and no pressures.
10. Oakland Raiders
When linebacker Neiron Ball has been targeted, opposing quarterbacks have an NFL passer rating of 42.4, which is the best among rookie linebackers.
11. Philadelphia Eagles
Inside linebacker Jordan Hicks has a yards per coverage snap of 1.03, the lowest for rookie inside/middle linebackers.
12. New Orleans Saints
Undrafted rookie Bobby Richardson has nine run stops. No other rookie 4-3 defensive end has more than three.
13. Seattle Seahawks
Defensive end Frank Clark has a PFF Rating of 82.1 against the run, which is the best among rookies.
14. New York Jets
Of the nine 3-4 outside linebackers with 30 or more pass rushes, Lorenzo Mauldin has the second-best pass rushing productivity of 10.8.
15. New York Giants
Undrafted rookie tight end Will Tye has 1.56 yards per route run, tied for the best among rookie tight ends.
16. Dallas Cowboys
On 79 pass blocks, La’el Collins has just allowed one quarterback pressure. His pass blocking efficiency of 99.1 is fourth-best among all guards with at least 50 pass blocks.
17. Buffalo Bills
When Ronald Darby is targeted, opposing quarterbacks have an NFL passer rating of 48.6. That is the fourth lowest for all cornerbacks, and by far the best among rookies.
18. Miami Dolphins
When cornerback Bobby McCain lines up in the slot, he’s allowed a yards per coverage snap of just 0.09, the best not just among rookies, but all slot cornerbacks with at least 50 coverage snaps in the slot.
19. St. Louis Rams
Of the six rookie offensive tackles with at least 100 pass blocks, Rob Havenstein is the only one to not allow a sack this season.
20. Kansas City Chiefs
Center Mitch Morse has a PFF run block rating of 83.8, best among rookies and fifth-best among all centers.
21. Cleveland Browns
Halfback Duke Johnson has 31 catches on 34 targets for 263 yards, which are all the most for rookies and fourth-most for all running backs.
22. Indianapolis Colts
Henry Anderson has 18 run stops, best among rookie 3-4 defensive ends, and third-best for all 3-4 defensive ends.
23. Baltimore Ravens
The only two rookie tight ends with more than six catches and no dropped passes are Maxx Williams and Nick Boyle.
24. Jacksonville Jaguars
Halfback T.J. Yeldon has had 18 players miss tackles on his carries, tied for 10th-most among all running backs, not just rookies.
25. Tennessee Titans
Rookie Jalston Fowler has the fifth-best PFF grade among fullbacks with at least 70 snaps at 68.4.
26. Chicago Bears
Defensive tackle Eddie Goldman has the best pass rushing productivity among rookie defensive tackles at 8.2. No other rookie defensive tackle is above 6.
Wide receiver Jamison Crowder has the best drop rate among rookies, at 3.03. He has just one drop compared to 32 catches.
28. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Of the nine rookie guards with at least 100 pass blocks, Ali Marpet has the best pass blocking efficiency at 97.0. He’s allowed one sack and seven hurries on 210 pass blocks.
29. Houston Texans
Inside linebacker Benardrick McKinney has a run stop percentage of 12.7, which is the best for rookie inside/middle linebackers.
30. Detroit Lions
Halfback Ameer Abdullah is the only rookie running back with more than 10 catches and no dropped passes. Abdullah has 13 catches.
31. San Diego Chargers
The only Chargers’ non-first round rookie with more than 100 snaps is outside linebacker Kyle Emanuel at 146. He has one sack, one hit, and four hurries on 65 pass rushes this season.
32. San Francisco 49ers
Backup defensive end Arik Armstead has 13 pressures on 86 pass rushes, giving him the best pass rushing productivity for rookie 3-4 defensive ends at 11.6.
