- At a listed 6-foot-8, 360-pounds, Oklahoma’s Orlando Brown certainly looks the part of an NFL offensive tackle and his on-field play backs up his massive stature. Through four weeks, Brown’s 95.4 run blocking grade is the nation’s best regardless of position.
- Brown has taken his game to the next level, leading all offensive tackles in percentage of positively-graded run blocks after ranking 16th among returning draft-eligible tackles last season.
- While Oklahoma’s offensive scheme can provide some easier snaps in pass protection, it’s hard to ignore that Brown has allowed only one pressure on 124 attempts through four games. Last season, Brown’s pass blocking efficiency of 98.9 ranked fifth in the draft class. He has allowed more than one pressure in only one game since 2015, a season that saw him allow more than one pressure in seven different games.
- Last year’s offensive tackle class was weak at the top, but Brown looks like a first-round candidate. The key will be seeing him against top pass-rushers in must-pass situations, something not always afforded to scouts and analysts given Oklahoma’s misdirection-heavy scheme.
