Each week I’ll comb through the options at each position to bring you my picks for the players with the best combination of safety and upside over a wide price range. These are guys you’ll use in cash games for the most part, but there’s nothing wrong with slotting a couple into your tournament lineups as well for stability.
Quarterback
Carson Palmer $7100: There are plenty of possibilities at quarterback this weekend, but none more enticing than Palmer. The Cardinals travel to San Francisco to face the league’s worst offense and one of the worst defenses. Palmer is averaging over 300 yards per game and leads the league in touchdown passes (27). He is PFF’s second most efficient quarterback as well, with 0.62 fantasy points per drop back. San Francisco is below average in sacks, interceptions, and forced fumbles, and is PFF’s fifth worst pass coverage unit, which should make it easy on Palmer and the gang this week.
Eli Manning $6500: Speaking of bad defenses, the Washington Redskins are also near the bottom of the league in overall defense, run defense, and pass coverage (per PFF), and they allow the ninth most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks, including two touchdown passes per game. The Giants only real offensive strength is in their passing game, so even though the matchup is good for Rashad Jennings, I think we see an elite Eli Manning game this Sunday.
